The GHS Theatre program is an extracurricular activity for students interested in all aspects of theatrical performance. Each year, the program presents two full-scale productions: a Fall play and a Spring musical. Students can perform on stage or work behind the scenes to bring these productions to life.

Show Synopsis

In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

Casting Note

All actors must play the assigned gender for the role, but an actor of any gender may play any character. Some roles in this production do not have an assigned gender.

Student Contract

Student contracts for both cast and crew will be reviewed and signed in person once the cast and crew have been determined. This contract will inform you about our policies for attendance, expectations, and conduct. You will need a new contract for each production.

Audition Information

Please click on the link to access all of the audition materials. Choose two monologues and one scene. We encourage you to choose different characters for the monologues than for the scenes. Choose two songs for two different characters.

Please record yourself; we need to be able to see and hear you. For recording your scenes, you have a few options. You can have a friend or family member read the lines for the other character on or off camera, pause where the other lines you are not auditioning to say occur, or record yourself saying the lines you aren't auditioning for with pauses built in for yourself, and play this as you audition. Upload your videos to your audition folder. The folder is only accessible to the directors and the cast member. The submission deadline is Wednesday, January 21st. Since we often receive requests for extensions and strive to be flexible when this occurs, we are asking if you need more time to email Lisa or Emily. Your late submission must be received by Friday, January 23rd, at 10 pm. No submissions received after Friday will be considered, so we can begin rehearsals the week of January 26th.
